CANYON, Texas — A last-second shot was off the mark and the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team dropped an 88-87 decision to 15th-ranked Fort Lewis on Saturday in the finale of a four-team weekend classic hosted by West Texas A&M.
Junior guard Marquise Harris made four 3-pointers and shot 11-of-17 from the field en route to 29 points for the Greyhounds (1-1), while senior guard CoRnell Neal added 22 points and junior forward Shawn Shelton posted a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Rasmus Bach led three players in double figures for the Skyhawks (1-1) with 25 points. Fort Lewis shot 48 percent from the floor, including 61 percent in the second half, and hit 22-of-28 free throws to 13-of-23 for ENMU while forcing the Hounds into 24 turnovers.
ENMU returns to action on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. (MST) clash against St. Mary’s at San Antonio.
