Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Less than three weeks after opening in Clovis, Sweetwaters Coffee and Tea at 1010 W. 21st St. was vandalized, according to owner Lexi Myers.
Myers said a first-shift employee noticed the vandalism around 5 a.m. Thursday. The employee, she said, noticed what looked like “somebody had taken a hammer out and knocked our east glass door in,” prompting a call to the police.
Myers said tip money and a laptop computer were missing, with damages amounting to more than $520.
“The tips were provided to employees,” Myers said, “so they weren’t shorted their tip money, and the door was replaced by 9 a.m. We’re thankful everybody responded so quickly and promptly. It is a bad circumstance, but you can’t even tell we’ve been broken into.”
Myers said officers were working Thursday to catch those responsible.
Police did not respond to questions about the incident.
