Hartsfield: Matching sets still a thing

Matching tops and bottoms are definitely not a thing of the past. Whether it’s a cropped top short set or a ladies pants suit, ladies and gents alike can reach back into time and pull out some of their favorite two-piece looks.

In workout gear, you may have noticed more two-piece leggings with complementary cropped-top pieces. One of the most popular looks for spring and summer has been the ribbed top and matching skirt. It’s light weight cotton texture is breezy enough for summer and look great layered with a jacket when it’s cool.

For the cooler climate, the look is the upgraded sweat suit. The new look is more fitted much like the track suit but comes in many prints and patterns. Matching leggings and sweatshirts can be worn with a sneaker or dressier shoe depending on the occasion.

But we’re not out of the heat yet. Another popular look for the summer is the cruise top short set; much reminiscent of the cruise top rompers that look great with wedges or flat sandals.

A dressier look that’s work appropriate or cocktail party are ladies pant suits. Women aren’t limited to wearing gowns for evening wear anymore and suits are being sampled more and more. Most notably from 2011-2015, there have been various designs worn on the red carpets. Suits with shorts, suits with skirts and tuxedo inspired suit dresses are to name a few.

But if you were to take a look back to a few fashion archives, you’ll see that this timeless piece has never quite gone out of style. Every lady should have at least one recyclable suit throughout the years to fix up and look sharp.
