ENMU runners honored

STAFF REPORT

Eastern New Mexico University’s women’s cross country team had the top team grade point average among its Lone Star Conference competitors, according to a Wednesday release from the LSC.

The team had an average GPA of 3.533.

The conference also honored West Texas A&M’s men and Texas Woman’s for claiming the best collective GPA among its teams. It is the second-straight honor for WT’s men and third straight for Texas Womans. The Buffs had the top team GPA in seven of nine women’s sports, while the Pioneers were the top team in basketball and volleyball.

Team awards were determined by a points system that gave five points for first place in a sport, four points for second, three points for third and one point for a team GPA of at least 2.00. Points were then divided by programs offered for that gender.

The ENMU men took the team honor in the 2013-14 academic year.
