Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The following were actions taken Tuesday at the Roosevelt General Hospital Board meeting:
• Board members approved the May 2016 Financial Statement as presented by Dr. Larry Leaming.
“(RGH) ended up with gross revenues that were about $378,000 higher than what we've been doing on an average basis throughout the year,” Leaming said.
According to Leaming, there was a nine percent difference in operating expenses between May and previous months. The change in operating expenses is due to “medical supplies and salary expense,” he said.
• Board members approved the credentialing of two positions. Credentials were approved for certified nurse practitioner Gail Gutierrez and Dr. Mahamadu Fuseini.
“(Dr. Fuseini) is a cardiologist from PRMC Clovis,” said Chief of Staff Dr. Praveen Chava. “He is going to be here consulting, so we looked at his credentialing packet and he has all good references and did not have anything on the data bank.”
• Chief Nursing Officer Mercedes Lopez reported that low numbers in the nursing staff has been difficult.
According to Lopez, the ER length of stay has reduced to 181 minutes. “Our goal is 180 minutes as an average time that the patient spends in the ER, so we are working hard to maintain those numbers,” she said.
• Clinical Administrator Tina Hill reported an average of 145 patients each month.
“The weekend clinic is booming,” Hill said. “Providers have really stepped up and helped us maintain this over the last three months.”
Hill reported that a sports physical camp is scheduled for July 13-14. Physicals will be administered for $20.
• Dr. Larry Leaming reported in his administrative report that two physician spots have been filled.
The hospital has experienced some telephone issues and is working to resolve them, Leaming said.
