Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Tyler Meiwes was born and raised in Clovis. He grew up on a farm where he worked a lot with his father. Meiwes thought that he would be a farmer himself one day. Early on he learned about concrete and building barns from the ground up, which is part of his business today.

Meiwes is co. owner with his brother-in-law Cody Kent of TC Welding & Repair in Clovis. The two have been in business for five years. They build feed lots, work on commercial buildings and shops and a lot of dairy construction. They also partner in their second business, TC Transportation,

How did you get into the welding and repair business?

Both Cody and I had full-time jobs, but we did some work out of the beds of our pickups for two years before we decided to start the business.

What do you like and dislike about your type of work?

I like the finished product. I enjoy the business side of it, too, and talking to people. I enjoy all of it. If I didn’t enjoy it then I don’t need to do it.

What’s your idea of a perfect day?

When everyone shows up to work and everything goes smoothly.

When you were a kid, what did you think you’d be doing as an adult?

I thought I’d be in agriculture. Me and dad farmed my whole life. I build barns in my business now so I’m still around agriculture. But I thought I’d be a farmer. My dad still custom farms.

Tell us about your favorite sport?

I don’t get into sports. I never played any but I watch the super bowl because it’s a good reason to have a party.

What’s your favorite taste?

I like sweets. I like ice cream.

What’s your favorite smell?

I like the smell after a rain.

Tell us about your greatest individual accomplishment?

I feel good about how my business has gone for me. But any business can go wrong overnight so I make sure not to get cocky about it.

Who’s invited to your fantasy dinner party and why?

All of my family. I get along with everybody. Sometimes they may have trouble getting along with me.

What do you envision your life being like in 10 years?

Pretty much the way it is now. I like where I’m at. I think it’s easy to grow a business fast when you have a good banker. Hopefully I get a little further along than I am now.
