Man killed in motorcycle-car crash

A Clovis man was killed Thursday afternoon in a motorcycle-car crash, according to a release form the Clovis Police Department.

Patrick Smith, 20, died from injuries suffered in the crash on the 1100 block of West Sandia Street.

According to the release:

• Police were dispatched at 12:38 p.m. for a crash involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found a green 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle on its side and a black Nissan car with impact marks on the driver’s left front and the driver’s side windshield.

• A preliminary investigation indicated the motorcycle driven by Smith was traveling east on Sandia Street, while the Nissan was turning west onto Sandia Street from a posted yield sign on Williams Street.

The Nissan was driven by a 40-year-old male.

• Smith was not wearing a helmet.

• Smith was transported to Plains Regional Medical Center by a Clovis Fire Department ambulance. He was pronounced dead at 1:14 p.m.

The crash remains under investigation.

Police did not identify the driver of the car.
