Dora Schools will release early on March 23 and not be in session until April 29 for Easter break.
Parent/teacher conferences
School will be released early on Friday in order to accommodate parent/teacher conferences from 12:35 p.m. to 4 p.m. Buses will run at 12:35 p.m.
ENMULocal bank donates $5,000 to ENMU
USBank presented Eastern New Mexico University in Portales a $5,000 check designated to Starter Scholarships for New Mexico high school graduates attending ENMU. Starter Scholarships are awarded the first semester of the freshmen year before the Lottery Scholarship funding begins.
ENMU ranked in top 30 RN to BSN online degrees
Eastern New Mexico University in Portales was recently named among the top 30 RN to BSN online nursing degrees under $10,000 by bestmasterofscienceinnursing.com.
The ranking was created using data from the National Center of Education Statistics College Navigator. The study narrowed down the nursing schools to those offering an accredited online nursing degree for $10,000 or less. Schools were then sorted by estimated in-state tuition.
ENMU was ranked 14th.

School named a best risk-reward campus
The results for the 2016 College Risk-Reward Indicator (CRRI) study were just released in which defines risk as the average student loan debt per graduate. The study defined reward as the average early career pay or the median salary for alumni with zero to five years of experience.
The study compared 1,004 public and private colleges in the U.S. with ENMU ranking as one of the lowest risks in regard to student loan debt.

Alumni musical director for Mountain Stage Radio
Eastern New Mexico University graduate Ron Sowell is the musical director for Mountain Stage Radio, a two-hour music show airing every week on National Public Radio on over 150 stations throughout the country.
“The show gives me the opportunity to meet and play with some of the best musicians in the world,” he said. “It’s a dream job that continually challenges me to be at the top of my craft.”
The Roswell-native attended ENMU from 1965 to 1970, earning a bachelor’s of political science with a minor in history.
During his time at the university, he served as student body president and was involved in the Concert Choir, folk trio “The Coachmen,” Swanee Singers and other musical productions as well as the fraternity Sigma Chi.
His previous work positions include solo artist, songwriter, recording musician and producer.
