Peanut Valley Toastmasters
Peanut Valley Toastmasters held their weekly meeting at the KENW Broadcast Center on March 3 at 7 p.m.
Newest member Bailey Decker presented her icebreaker speech and won the award for best speaker. Member Drake Davidson also presented his speech for the upcoming international speech competition titled “But, It Doesn’t Have Me.”
Toastmaster Donna Labatt won table topics and club president Jon Barr won best evaluator.
Returning guests Marquis Glick and Jeff Shoultz contributed to the meeting as timer and table topics master, respectively.
The club meeting on March 10 is cancelled so members can volunteer for the KENW-TV Pledge Drive.
Next meeting will be on March 17 at 7 p.m. in the Broadcast Center. Guests are welcome.
Portales Woman’s Club
Portales Woman’s Club met March 9. President June Ferguson presided. Doncella Caywood gave the invocation. Beth Banda led the pledges and collect. There were 14 members and two guests present: Alisa Boswell and Leigh Ana Eugene.
Amber Hamilton, Program Chair, introduced Leigh Ana Eugene, Executive Director of Arise Sexual Services who spoke about her agency’s work and the volunteers who help patients.
Sheryl Borden, nominating committee chair, presented the officers for 2016-2017: President Cami Howl, First and Second Vice-presidents Amber Hamilton and Lori Dunn, Third Vice-president Gertie Swager, Recording Secretary Beth Banda, Corresponding Secretary Mary Lou Rowley and Treasurer Danielle Swopes. These officers will be voted on at the April meeting.
Howl and Schroeder were elected as delegate and alternate to attend the GFWC New Mexico State Convention in Truth or Consequences April 29th and 30th.
The next meeting will be on April 13th at noon at the club building.
