• Last time out: Clovis was defeated 66-30 on Tuesday by Carlsbad on the first day of District 4-6A play. Hobbs defeated Alamogordo 68-50, also on Tuesday, for its third straight win.
• Common opponents: The Wildcats and Eagles have each faced Centennial, Las Cruces, Goddard, Roswell and Lovington. Clovis is 1-5 in those games (1-1 against Lovington), while Hobbs is 3-2 (wins over Lovington, Centennial and Cruces).
• Clovis update: Coach Scott Robinson says senior G Tucker Dobbs, who has seen extensive action in just one game since coming back from an ankle injury sustained during the football season, is “day-to-day,” and he’s not sure if he’ll be able to go tonight. “We’ve been missing three of our top eight players most of the year,” Robinson said, referring to the loss of Dobbs as well as senior P Roland Chavez and sophomore G Rheal Kuchta, both of whom have sustained season-ending injuries. “We’ve had some good practices. We’re roking against their prss, and we certainly know they’ll bring pressure.”
• Hobbs players to watch: Seniors Pierre Swain (17.9 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and Jordan Gonzales (16.2 ppg, 4.7 rpg) lead the Eagles. Gonzales has hit just over half (98) of the team’s 195 3-pointers this season.

• Last meeting: March 2015, the Lady Wildcats beat Hobbs 46-21 at The Rock in the district tournament championship game, completing a three-game season sweep of the Lady Eagles.;
• Last time out: Hobbs won at Alamogordo 53-43 and Clovis lost at Carlsbad 59-28 in district openers on Tuesday.
• Of note: Both teams are in rebuilding mode this season. … The Lady Eagles are 2-6 in road games so far, while the Lady Cats have gone 2-4 at home. … Former Clovis assistant Johnny Casaus is in his 15th season as the Lady Eagles’ coach. … Through 18 games, Hobbs has scored 819 points and allowed 819. … The Lady Cats have won the last nine matchups in the series, dating to a regular-season district loss at Hobbs in February 2013. They’ve won eight in a row over the Lady Eagles at home over the last four seasons, winning the regular-season district matchup and the district tournament championship in each case. … Against common opponents so far, Hobbs is 5-5 with two wins over Lovington and one each over Mayfield, Valencia amd Roswell Goddard, while losing three times to Roswell High and once each to Mayfield and Amarillo Palo Duro. The Lady Cats, meantime, are 3-5, beating Lovington twice and Goddard once and losing to Roswell High twice and Palo Duro, Valencia and Mayfield once apiece.
