1990: The Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce had made restitution to the state for irregularities discovered in an internal audit.

The Chamber reimbursed the state’s economic development division $750, officials said.

No criminal charges were filed, but the issue led to the dismissal of Chamber Executive Director John Risher, officials said.

1960: Clovis had placed four on the Class AA all-state football team — center Ronnie Bowman, end Jim Gee, halfback Jimmy Reynolds, and tackle Richard Ybarra.

Portales defensive back Richard James was also named to the AA team.

1935: Clovis experienced a mild earthquake, with residents reporting the ground shaking beneath them about 10:30 p.m.

The only damage reported was a cracked tile wall at 209 Mitchell St. and a crack in wallpaper at 406 E. Fourth St.
