Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Empty stocking fund profile — Ms. G

A woman — Ms. G — and her son recently visited the Sunday worship service at Clovis’ Salvation Army.

“She gave a testimony of how God has taken care of her and her family through the difficult time of a car accident,” said Salvation Army Lt. Kelly Berggren.

“Three of her children were thrown out of the car and, unfortunately, one did not survive.”

Berggren said one of the children recently awoke from a coma while the third is “fully functioning” after brain surgery and therapy.

“Needless to say, they have no money for Christmas this holiday season,” Berggren said.

The family is among about two dozen who qualify to receive assistance from the Empty Stocking Fund, sponsored by the Clovis News Journal and Salvation Army.

The fund helps low-income families with toys, food and clothing.

Donations can be made at the Salvation Army, 317 E. Second St., or at the CNJ, 521 Pile St., in Clovis.
