CARLSBAD — The Carlsbad Cavegirls locked up the No. 2 seed in next week’s District 4-6A tournament on Thursday night with a 15-25, 25-21, 25-19, 19-25, 15-8 win over Clovis High in the regular-season finale for both teams.
The Cavegirls (5-15, 3-3 district) overcame a 4-1 deficit in the fifth set to pull out a nip-and-tuck win. Meantime, the Lady Cats (4-16, 1-5) were relegated to the No. 4 seed and visit third-seeded Alamogordo on Tuesday night, with the winner playing at Carlsbad two nights later.
Hobbs was the regular-season district champion and the Lady Eagles will host the tournament championship game on Saturday.
No other information was available late Thursday night.
