Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
I’m reading through another book of quotes. I certainly don’t need a “book.” I’m exposed to quotes all day every day, but there remains something sweet about turning pages. And especially when you come across the 33-year-old book while helping your mom clean out a closet.
It’s so nice to read two or three phrases from famous people then ponder their thoughts throughout the day.
I read this while sitting in the truck at a job site.

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe — “One ought every day to hear a little music, read a good poem, see a fine picture and, if possible, speak a few reasonable words.”
I wondered how many years ago he wrote these words. For so many down through history, this would have proven quite a daily achievement. In my world it’s all easily done on my computer before 7 in the morning while I drink my coffee.
Johann was born in Germany in 1749. Reading his encyclopedia entry is marvelous.
Search him out if you have a few minutes.
Wouldn’t he love our Internet?
Follow his admonition today: Music, poetry, photos and words … all handed to us on a silver platter.
Enjoy.
