Arizona man sentenced for child solicitation

Staff report

An Arizona man who lost an appeal in June was sentenced Tuesday to one year in prison for soliciting a child for the purposes of engaging in a sexual act, according to District Attorney Andrea Reeb.

Richard Schaublin, 44, was convicted in April 2013. He appealed the case, and in June, the New Mexico Court of Appeals upheld the jury’s guilty verdict and ordered Schaublin be sentenced accordingly.

Judge Drew Tatum delivered the sentence, which includes two years of supervised probation.

The charges stemmed from an undercover operation by the Curry County Sheriff’s Office, posing online as a 15-year-old female.
