During my usual online gallery gazing, I came across an article from Harper’s Bazaar magazine that featured popular quotes from what it called “the ultimate connoisseurs of chic.”
They shared quotes from 50 of some of the most recognizable names in fashion. Here are some of my favorite quotes from the list:
• “I firmly believe that with the right footwear one can rule the world.“
— Bette Midler
Since I believe that shoes are everything when it comes to fashion, this had to be my first pick.

• “I like my money right where I can see it … hanging in my closet.”
— Carrie Bradshaw
For those who don’t know, Carrie is the name of the character played by Sarah Jessica Parker on “Sex and the City.”
• “I can’t concentrate in flats!”
— Victoria Beckham
Major! This was funny to me because I used to say something similar in my 20s and my closest friends at the time would agree. Though, nowadays I wear flats more often than not.
• “Walk like you have three men walking behind you.”— Oscar de la Renta
This one reminded me of my brother when we were in middle school. He had a crush on a girl because he said she walked like a model. Well, she got his attention.
• “Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous, but it is how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing.”— Alexander Wang
I think, depending on what you do for a living, your days off are your most stylish.
• “The hardest thing in fashion is not to be known for a logo, but to be known for a silhouette.”— Giambattista Valli
I’ve always said this. It’s all about the shape of it, the fit.
• “Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.”— Karl Lagerfeld
Now this last quote was just funny. But I have to say, there are some really chic sweatpants out there right now and I think even Karl will agree.
