PHS names girls soccer co-coaches

Portales High School has doubled up to fill its only head coaching vacancy over the summer.

The girls soccer team will have co-coaches for the 2015 season. Portales High Athletic Director Mark Gallegos said Laurel Kerg, an assistant on last year’s Ram squad, will be joined by Eanna O’Gorman.

O’Gorman played two seasons for the Greyhounds as a defender, starting 17 of his 26 games and 10 of his 12 games as a senior.

The Portales girls finished 8-11-1 under Sarah Vasquez last season, and were eliminated by fifth-seeded Sandia Prep in the first round.

Gallegos said the only other positions PHS still needs to fill are an assistant coach for softball to replace Vasquez and an assistant baseball coach to replace Jared Sisneros.
