Suspect pleads guilty to felony charges

Staff report

A man who broke into the Jimenez Custom Harvesting building last year pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony, according to a press release from District Attorney Andrea Reeb's office.

Chief District Court Judge Drew Tatum sentenced Leonard L. Lucero to 10 years in prison.

Lucero, 41, of Clovis broke into Jimenez Custom Harvesting on West Brady in February 2014, according to the release.

Clovis police were alerted by an alarm activation and when they arrived, they found broken glass and a door pried open, according to the release. Lucero was located in the building but did not surrender to police. He was then taken down by a K-9 officer, the release said.

According to the release, damage to the building totaled more than $8,000.
