Price of progress ...

Fresh from the U.S. 70 project that snarled traffic for three years, Portales motorists can look forward to more driving out of the way to get there this week. Installation of the city’s new effluent pipeline means street closings and traffic slowdowns.

East Sixth and South Elgin will be closed at Third Street. Shoulder work is scheduled on 18th Street west across N.M. 206 toward U.S. 70. Paving is planned on South Globe, Gemini, East Ninth, South Dallas and 18th streets.
