Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Staff Report
With May around the corner, spring is settling in for Clovis and Portales.
Rains can be expected in the northern region of Curry County Sunday, according to meteorologist Jennifer Palucki from the National Weather Service in Albuquerque.
Palucki said the Sunday rains will likely carry over into Monday with winds picking up to about 25 mph.
Winds Sunday and Monday are expected to have gusts of more than 35 mph in both Clovis and Portales.
Palucki said the winds will cool temperatures in the area to the low 60s, but expects temperatures to return to the 70s by Tuesday.
By Friday and Saturday of next week temperatures will return to the low 80s.
Palucki said that a freeze is unlikely to happen in the next 7 to 10 days, but said the latest freeze on record for the area is May 2nd.
