Notebook

Water, water everywhere...

• Watch yourself driving on west 21st Street today. EPCOR is flushing a well behind James Bickley at Mitchell and Purdue streets for 24 hours...part of a federal requirement. The water will be running along Mitchell Street toward 21st Street and into Greene Acres Lake.

Artist call...

• Eastern New Mexico University’s Runnels Gallery and the Portales Arts Council are looking for a few good artists to help with “New Mexican Stories.” It’s noon Saturday at the ENMU Art and Anthropology Building. Participants will be given a New Mexico topographic map and asked to visually create their personal New Mexican story. You can bring your own or they’ll provide art supplies.

A footnote...

• As predicted earlier...Curry County commissioners managed to stretch out a routine meeting Tuesday to more than four hours. Commissioners are part of a government month presentation today at Clovis High School. Will it take all day?

Favorite movie lines...

• “Suppose you picked up this morning’s newspaper and your life was a front page headline… And everything they said was accurate… But none of it was true….” — Paul Newman in “Absence of Malice”
