Title: Firefighter, Portales Fire Department, one year

What’s the year at the PFD been like for you?

It’s been very eye-opening for me. I’m not from here and here they’ve shown me everything as far what to do and how to do it as far as pumping trucks and things of that nature. In Arizona, you have to progress and have experience to learn certain things.

What made you want to be a firefighter?

For me, when I was a kid, we had one of those career day events and the guy was a firefighter and he was talking about what he does and how much he loves it. Then, I did a ride along at a couple different stations and found out how much fun it was being around the guys and being a big family.

What do you like to do n your time off?

Workout, play basketball at Eastern whenever I can and rest up, because this job is definitely demanding.

What your favorite place to eat out in Portales?

I like Something Different McDonald’s, Subway; I like to bounce around.

What’s your favorite basketball team?

I like the Oklahoma City Thunder. They’re one of those teams I find myself watching a lot because they’re fun and exciting.
