ENMU at Angelo State

• When: 5 p.m. (MST) today in a Lone Star Conference game at San Angelo, Texas

• Records: ENMU 7-9 (0-3 LSC), Angelo State 14-1 (2-0)

• Last year: The teams split, with ENMU posting a 72-68 overtime win at Portales and ASU prevailing 77-75 at San Angelo.

• Last time out: The Greyhounds lost to Texas A&M-Kingsville 75-67 at Greyhound Arena on Wednesday, while the Rams thumped West Texas A&M 88-60 the same night at Canyon, Texas.

•Of note: ASU is 21-2 at home under second-year coach Chris Beard, including 10-0 this season. … ASU’s only loss this season was a 70-67 decision at Colorado Mesa. The Rams are currently on a nine-game winning streak. … ENMU has dropped three in a row and five of its last six. … Leaders for the Rams are 6-foot-5 senior G/F Delmario Mayfield (16.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg), 6-2 senior G Chris Jones (14.8 ppg, 5.5 apg) and 5-11 senior G Marsell Holden (13.7 ppg). Mayfield has one triple-double and six double-doubles this season, while Jones is second in NCAA Division II with 47 steals and Holden has a team-best 42 3-pointers. …Angelo State, which is 6-0 on Saturdays this season, has won 10 games by double-figure margins and is outscoring its opponents by roughly 30 ppg. … Portales native and PHS grad Cinco Boone is ASU’s associated head coach.

• Last year: The teams split, with the Zias posting a 74-64 win in Portales and the Rambelles prevailing 69-44 at San Angelo.

• Last time out: The Zias toppled Texas A&M-Kingsville 77-59 on Wednesday, snapping a 13-game LSC losing streak dating to last January. The Rambelles lost at West Texas A&M 80-49.

• Of note: The Rambelles are 3-3 at home this season. … Former Texas Tech player Cayla Petree is in her second year as the team’s coach. She played for Marsha Sharp at Tech (2002-04), helping the Lady Raiders reach the NCAA Division I Elite Eight in 2003. … Two players average in double figures for the Rambelles — 5-10 sophomore F Jasmine Caston (14.4 ppg) and 5-8 junior G Amanda Weaver (10.8 ppg). Caston also leads the team with 22 steals.
