Jury selection scheduled for January in abuse case

A jury selection hearing is scheduled for Jan.7 for the State of New Mexico vs. Eusebio Jasper under District Judge Stephen Quinn. The jury trial is scheduled for Jan. 8. Jasper is charged with criminal sexual penetration in the first degree (child under 13) and four counts of criminal sexual penetration in the second degree (child 13-18)(force or coercion).

The Clovis Police Department is holding its annual Cops and Kids Christmas Monday at 6:30 a.m. This year the department will help 205 children with $100 gift cards for holiday shopping.

The Clovis Police Department will conduct Driving While Under the Influence Saturation Patrols within the city Friday and Saturday. The police will specifically target drunk and drug-impaired drivers. It is also illegal to drive under the influence of prescription drugs that may impair their ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
