The Roosevelt County Homemakers Club will be hosting the Causey Community Holiday Luncheon 1 p.m. Sunday at the Causey Community Building.

The homemaker’s club has been in the Roosevelt County area for more than 50 years and the luncheon is open to the public.

The club will provide meat, bread and refreshments. Guests are asked to bring vegetables salads or desserts and any other food items they would like to donate.

Members of the club are excited to be participating in the event, including Marilyn Gardner, who has been a member for more than 10 years.

“It’s just a great way to give back and say thank you to the community that supports us,” Gardner said. “We always get a great turnout and people who come bring veggies, turkey, ham, salads, pies and other desserts.”

The Homemakers Club has been hosting the holiday luncheon for 10 years.

“It’s been great that we’ve been able to do something like this for so long. It’s something we plan and take pride in every year.” Gardner said.

There will also be a silent auction held for homemade items such as Christmas ornaments and other arts and crafts, as well as cookies, pies and dessert breads and other fresh baked goods. The proceeds from the auction will go the Homemaker’s extension club, which covers all homemakers clubs in the state of New Mexico.

“It goes to the extension club, which will help us do more things like this in the future,” Gardner said. “We’re always trying to help people in the community, and this is just a great thing to do to give back and at the same time get into the holiday spirit.”
