Staff report
The Clovis Community College Board reviewed 2015 funding Wednesday and approved several instructional and non-instructional matters.
College President Becky Rowley updated board members on the funding formula used to calculate next years budget.
“I expect everything to be just fine for our students,” Rowley said. “Every scenario that I have seen, even though there are some differences between them, for us all of the scenarios seem to be about the same.
“The outcome appears to be about the same,” Rowley said. “So, we don't anticipate gaining a whole lot of money next year, but we also don't anticipate losing money. We anticipate gaining some. We've been very prudent in the past so that we should be able to have a really good year for our students next year.”
In instructional matters, the members unanimously approved the academic calendars for fall 2015, spring 2016 and summer 2016.
In non-instructional matters, board members unanimously approved two contracts with Nick Griego and Sons, Inc. for improvements to the Norman and Vi Petty Performing Arts Center. These improvements include a $547,419 contract for a new HVAC system and upgraded electrical infrastructure and a $115,161 contract for a roof replacement.
The board also unanimously approved a premium-only plan, which offers employees the option of having medical and vision insurance premiums deducted from their paycheck before social security or income taxes are assessed. The plan results in a tax saving to the employee increasing the net take home pay for CCC employees.
The board also unanimously approved a flex spending plan that allows participants to pay for certain medical expenses and dependent care on a pre-tax basis.
