Clovis police said Monday they have located a suspect in connection with weekend fires at The Hamilton Auto Group’s Auto World car dealership in Clovis and GM Country in Portales.
Clovis Police Capt. Patrick Whitney declined to identify the suspect because charges have not been filed.
Curry County Adult Detention Center jail records show a 40-year-old Clovis woman was booked Sunday for charges of improper handling of fire and receiving/transferring stolen motor vehicles. A $1,000 bond amount was posted for two charges.

Hamilton GM Country was closed Monday following Saturday night’s fire.
Fire officials have not determined the cause of either fire. Clovis Fire Marshal Allan Silvers said there is an investigation into the cause of the Clovis fire and Portales Fire
Chief Gary Nuckols said the same for the Portales fire.
Clovis Fire Battalion Chief Dale Hand said the fire at Auto World on Saturday night damaged the downstairs offices at the dealership on Second and Maple streets. The building was unoccupied and firefighters had the blaze under control in 20 minutes.
The fire at GM Country in Portales happened just before midnight Saturday and continued into early Sunday morning. Portales Fire Chief Nuckols declined to comment
Monday on damage estimates or the cause of the fire. Portales Batallion Chief Shannon Lee also said he is not sure about damages to the dealership.
A reporter went to the scene Monday and saw no visible damage from the outside, only some slightly burned insulation and ceiling tiles outside on a tarp.
