• Last time out: The Greyhounds downed Western New Mexico 94-87 on Saturday at The Pit in Albuquerque. ESU’s last outing was a 66-61 win over MIAA conference rival Northwest Missouri State on Tuesday at Alva, Okla., while the Reddies edged Southwestern Oklahoma 66-62 on Saturday at Searcy, Ark.
• Last meetings: ENMU lost to ESU 87-58 at Greyhound Arena in November 2008. The Hounds’ last meeting with Harding was on Dec. 2, 1999, a 66-62 win at Searcy.
•Of note: ENMU and WT are trading opponents each day. … Veteran Harding coach Jeff Morgan played at WT (1986-88) and was the Buffaloes’ head coach in 1992-93 before beginning his career at Searcy the following season. … ENMU is 1-3 all-time against Emporia State and 2-0 against Harding. … Senior G Michael Randle leads four ENMU players averaging in double figures (15.0 ppg). n Last time out: The Zias lost at home to Fort Lewis 59-56 on Tuesday. UTPB defeated New Mexico Highlands 76-55 in its home opener last Saturday, while LCU is coming off a 71-57 win at Angelo State on Monday.
n Last meetings: ENMU won its only previous meeting against UTPB, beating the Falcons 69-51 at Greyhound Arena in the 2008-09 season. The Zias lost twice last season to a 25-1 LCU squad — 101-66 at Lubbock, 84-52 at Greyhound Arena.
n Of note: Lone Star Conference member Tarleton State will face LCU on Friday and UTPB on Saturday. … The Zias have outscored their first four opponents by eight points, with all three losses by three points or less. … Senior F Tori Tucker was held to six points in Tuesday’s loss, but still leads the Zias in scoring (16.8 ppg) and rebounding (6.0 rpg) while shooting 11-of-27 from 3-point range. … UTPB, which went just 7-18 last season and tied for eighth place in the Heartland Conference, already has road wins this season over WT (77-73), ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II in preseason, and Angelo State (64-56). The win over WT snapped an 18-game home winning streak for the Lady Buffs, dating to late in the 2012-13 campaign. … LCU and ENMU opened their seasons in Colorado School of Mines’ Tony Corbetta Classic on Nov. 14-15. While the Zias lost two tight games, the Lady Chaps lost to Colorado-Colorado Springs 93-90 and edged Mines 65-62. … Senior G/F Valerie Barriga leads the UTPB at 22.3 ppg, despite shooting just 38 percent from the field. She’s 33-for-40 from the free throw line, and also is tied for the team lead in rebounding (7.0 rpg). Junior G Brianna Dominguez has averaged 10 ppg for the while playing in just two contests, both off the bench. … For LCU, senior PG Haley Burton leads three players averaging in double figures (18.3 ppg), going 12-for-23 so far from 3-point distance.
