Meetings watch: Portales school board

Portales Municipal Schools board members met Monday evening at the L.C. Cozzens Administrative Offices in Portales. They took the following action:

• Listened to a report on the status of Eastern New Mexico University’s new football stadium. ENMU Foundation President Steve Doerr said the university has come up with the $12 million for the project through fees, donations, and pledges, but does not have all of the money in-hand yet. Doerr said the university has hired an architect and will design the stadium with a separate locker room for the Portales Rams to use for games and practices.

• Approved the purchase of property from Craig Hughes.

• Approved resolution No. 12-15-09 for the resolution and proclamation of the regular school district election.

• Approved resolution No. 14-15-10 authorizing and directing school election procedures.

• Approved resolutions 14-15-11 and 14-15-12 declaring certain fixed assets obsolete and authorizing auction, donation, or disposal. The resolutions pertain to items the schools can no longer use and authorizes their disposal, donation, or auction.

• Authorized a donation of more than $300 worth of merchandise from WalMart to Portales Junior High School.

• Awarded bid No. 14-15-0020 to Air One Heating and Air Conditioning for HVAC supplies and materials.
