TexAnns gain revenge on ENMU

Staff report

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Except for two ties early in the first set and two ties and two lead changes early in the third, Tarleton State led the entire night in rolling past Eastern New Mexico University 25-17, 25-12, 25-17 in Lone Star Conference volleyball on Friday night.

The TexAnns (20-5, 10-4 LSC) avenged a three-game sweep administered by the Zias (12-14, 4-9) at Greyhound Arena on Sept. 27.

Kelsey Raglin posted a match-high 10 kills for TSU, while Hailey Roberts added nine kills, three block assists and four aces. NCAA Division II blocks leader Kenya Alexander was in on a match-high five for the TexAnns, including two solos.

Senior outside hitter Lindsey Barron led the Zias with eight kills, while sophomore outside hitter Lauren Frey added five. Senior middle blocker Agatha Gibbons had four kills and four total blocks (two solos).

Senior setter Karra Day’s ace pulled the Zias even 4-4 in the first set, but that was it until the third when ENMU took its only lead of the night on two errors by the TexAnns. Tarleton then ran off the next 10 points, capped by two kills from Raglin, and won going away.

ENMU plays its final LSC road match at 1 p.m. (MDT) today when it visits Angelo State.
