Injections and fillers and implants, oh my! There are so many procedures out there that I can’t tell what’s real or fake anymore. People are altering their appearances from head to toe. It’s no secret, because you have the proud bunch that will admit to the procedures they’ve gotten and they may even go out of their way to show you the gory details on some reality show. Whether the client had a good or bad experience, they are talking about it. What has happened in recent years where people have become so obsessed with their looks more so today than ever? There are a few factors that may go into play.

Photoshop, social media and reality TV may be distorting our views. With all of the accesses we have through technological advances, people have become obsessed with their physical selves.

As annoying as social media is, most of us can account for it. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, you name it.

Everyone is trying to portray the best version of themselves. But point is, social media feeds into the obsession to look good.

Everyone is posting selfies to see how many likes they will get or just because they like the way they look that day. When did changing your hair color, wearing a little makeup or buying a new outfit stop being enough?

According to the wire, some of the most popular procedures in 2014 are breast surgery, chin implants, tummy tucks, brachioplasty (removing that flappy skin under on the upper arm area) and non-surgical procedures like botox, facial peels, etc., you name it.

But there is becoming a rise in this culture. New procedures are on the rise and consumers are racing to get them done. Like, for example, I just read where a celebrity figure just got her eye color permanently changed where the contact is applied directly to the iris. I’ll stick to applying eyeshadow and mascara.

I can’t turn on my television or browse online without seeing redone faces, fuller lips and buttocks injections all over the place. I still remember when everyone wanted to look the opposite. The most annoying procedure to me right now is the injections and implants women are getting to have huge fake glutes. Stop it already! No one can fake a good gluteus maximus.

At the end of the day I hope we can all agree that it’s all smoke and mirrors. We are all just fine the way we are. But if you must, please proceed. To each his own.
