Two area businessmen part of state leadership group

Lance Adkins of Clovis, the general manager of Farmers’ Electric Cooperative, Inc., and Leo Lovett of Portales, vice president and business banking manager of Wells Fargo Bank, are among 42 leaders from 19 communities across the state selected to participate in the 2014-2015 Core Program for Leadership New Mexico.

This is the 19th class for the Leadership New Mexico Core Program, a news release from the group said.

Open to all state citizens, Leadership New Mexico’s Core Program involves leaders who represent the various geographic regions and communities, from the public, private, government and non-profit sectors.

Employers, community organizations, local leadership programs or individuals may nominate candidates who demonstrate outstanding leadership potential. Individuals may also nominate themselves.

Sessions include health and human services, economic development, education, environment and natural resources, and government, crime and justice issues.

Program sessions are held over 10 months in various locations around the state.

They are designed to address various issues facing the state. Each program session features speakers and panelists that are acknowledged leaders in their specific field, the release said.

The program began in 1995. More than 1,200 have participated since its inception, the release said.
