The man who has accused Clovis Police Officer Brent Aguilar of excessive force during an Aug. 3 traffic stop was arrested late Thursday, accused of felony aggravated assault and battery.

Police Chief Steve Sanders confirmed the arrest of Jorge Corona, 26, but said by text he didn't have any further details. Sanders said he couldn't offer specifics until he received the criminal complaint today.

"Perfect timing by our police," said Corona's attorney Dan Lindsey of his client's arrest. "This smacks of retaliation...Nothing can change that video and Aguilar's abuse."

Corona suffered a broken cheek bone after being slammed to the pavement while handcuffed in the August incident. A You Tube video of the arrest and takedown went viral after being posted Monday.

Corona was charged with concealing his identity and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. He pleaded not guilty and has demanded a jury trial.
