LAS VEGAS, N.M. — New Mexico Highlands did all of its scoring in the final 25 minutes Saturday night to beat Eastern New Mexico University 4-0 in women’s soccer.
Alyssa Saucedo broke the scoreless tie nearly 22 minutes into the second half, booting a through ball to beat ENMU goalkeeper Xan Ortiz to the left post.
The Zias (1-3) managed two shots on goal in the match, both by junior defender Melissa Moxley, while the Cowgirls (3-1) put eight shots on goal, all but one coming in the second half. Sarah Beecher got the shutout in goal for Highlands.
The Zias return to action Tuesday with a 2 p.m. match against Southern Nazarene at the ENMU pitch.
