Chamber seeks music fest sponsors

Time is running out to help the Clovis sound.

In just a few days, officials with the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce hope to get 20 more sponsors to help support the Clovis Music Festival, set to take place Sept. 4-6 at the Curry County Events Center, 1900 Brady Ave.

“Sponsorship is the easiest way to get the best seats in the house,” said Courtney Bailey, events coordinator for the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce in an email statement.

“Sponsorship packages (start) at $400 for tickets for all three nights and additional advertising/marketing opportunities for your business.”

A 27-year-old tradition, the Clovis Music Festival honors the “sound” created by famous artists whose careers are permanently connected with Clovis, such as Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and LeAnn Rimes; who all recorded at the Norman Petty recording studio.

This year’s festival is set to kick off with the music of Marshall Law, Will Banister and The Modern Day Ramblers.

“Will Banister has played for people all over the world, but he loves Clovis and Portales because of the wonderful people here,” stated Johnny Mulhair, Banister’s manager, of the country music singer in a press release from the Chamber of Commerce.

The Highway Men are set to take the stage on Sept. 5. The group impersonates various famous artists such as Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson.

On Sept. 6, Country western artist Phil Vassar will entertain, with the Kentucky HeadHunters as his opening act.
