Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Clovis Community College President Becky Rowley will extend her leadership to other community colleges across the state.
According to a press release from CCC, Rowley has been named president of the New Mexico Independent Community Colleges.
The organization consists of nine schools: Central New Mexico Community College, CCC, Luna Community College, Mesalands Community College, New Mexico Junior College, San Juan College, Santa Fe Community College, Western New Mexico University and New Mexico Military Institute.
“I am honored to serve my peers as president of NMICC,” Rowley said in the press release. “I am excited to become more involved in the state level discussions regarding higher education policy and funding.”
Rowley will replace Katharine Winograd, president of CNMCC in Albuquerque, as the organization’s board president.
Terry Martin, president of CCC Board of Trustees, states Rowley is the best choice for the post in the press release.
“NMICC couldn’t have a better choice for leadership with Dr. Rowley,” Martin states. “She has come up through the ranks and we’re proud to have someone from Clovis representing community colleges all over New Mexico.”
According to Rowley, the colleges work with state legislature to develop the state’s college funding formula. They also work to provide a unified front on issues such as general obligation bonds that benefit all NMICC schools.
