Students sought for youth leadership program

Staff report

United Way of Eastern New Mexico is seeking student applicants for its Zenith youth leadership program.

The program is open to eighth grade students in Curry and Roosevelt counties, according to a press release from United Way.

According to the release, the Zenith program provides an environment that allows adolescents to identify their strengths.

Student participants develop tools necessary to overcome challenges facing young people. By empowering and building core strength into its students, the program develops them into young leaders, capable and willing to take on life's challenges, the release said.

Student sessions begin in August, shortly after the start of the new school year and finish in May at the beginning of the summer break.

Applications can be obtained from the United Way office in the Matt 25 Hope Center. Additionally, the Zenith applications and information can be found at the United Way kiosk in the North Plains Mall.
