CCC board members resigns

The Clovis Community College Board is seeking candidates interested in applying for a vacant seat.

The board at its meeting Wednesday announced the resignation of Donald Sharer, representing District 1, who was elected to sit on the board in March 2013. He submitted his resignation letter on Tuesday and will be relocating to Santa Fe, according to a press release from the board.

The board is seeking letters of interest from anyone interested in being appointed to fill Sharer’s position, according to the release.

Letters must be submitted by Aug. 27.

According to the release, the appointee will need to run for the seat in the March 2015 election.

Letters of interest should address the applicants qualifications and interest for the position the release said.

The board also approved the following agenda items:

• The 2014 summer graduation list that included 102 graduates; 69 earned associates degrees and 33 earned certificate of achievements.

Listed graduates will have the opportunity to participate in CCC’s regular May graduation ceremony.

• Degree completion performance goals. CCC aims to increase degree and certificate completion, STEMH degree and certificate completion, and at-risk student degree completion by 10 percent for the 2014-15 school year.

The school is required to report its goals and findings to the New Mexico Higher Education Department. Data will be monitored at the end of each semester to assess whether the goal will be met.

During the 2012-13 academic year CCC awarded 392 certificates and 270 associate degrees.

During the 2012-13 academic year CCC awarded 316 certificates and 79 associate degrees in the STEMH area.

During the 2012-13 academic year CCC awarded 219 certificates and 151 associate degrees to at-risk students.

• A master plan for CCC’s facilities for submission to the NHED’s board.

• The purchase of 150 computers in the amount of $120,653. CCC’s Information Technology department identified 150 computers in need of replacement, according to the school’s computer replacement program.
