Area rodeoers fall short in prep nationals

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Recent Elida High graduate Hunter Haley made Saturday’s short go in the National High School Rodeo Association finals in goat tying, coming in 18th with a time of 12.97 seconds.

Haley, who plans to rodeo in college at Eastern New Mexico University, finished 18th in the average at 30.95 seconds.

The other area competitor, Dora’s Joshua Walker, was unable to make the finals in tie down roping after finishing fifth in the first round. Walker will continue his rodeo career in the fall at Western Texas College
