BAYARD — The Clovis Zia All-Stars broke open a tie game with a five-run, sixth-inning rally for a 7-3 win over Santa Rosa on Friday in the first round of the state 13-14 Little League tournament.

With the score 2-2, Zia used five hits and a walk to all but put the game out of reach and advance to a 9 a.m. game today against Silver City.

Joseph Garcia gave Zia a 2-1 lead with a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth. Sebastian Nunez, Joe Gallegos, Tomas Gallegos, Tristen Tipton and Brendon Alvarez divided pitching duties in the win.
