Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Club notes — July 20

Encanto Garden Club

Encanto Garden Club held a July 9 meeting at Muffley’s Back Door. After a short business meeting which included acknowledgment of a letter from Clovis Parks and Recreation thanking us for our gift of $50 toward a new park tree and refreshments furnished by Bobbi Lyons, the meeting revolved around our participation in managing the horticulture booth at the Curry County Fair.

This booth probably accepts more entries than other booths in the home economics building. Every entry involves paperwork and time to process. In the past, members have been lenient in assisting entrants grooming of specimens, etc.

This year, in anticipation of a busy time due to the favorable weather, club members will strictly follow the Horticulture Special Rules (page 75 of the fair book). No containers will be available. We request all entrants read these rules prior to bringing their specimens and we wish them luck.
