Nieka Style: Cool hat always great summer choice

Many of us have come and gone or are planning plenty on trips this summer. Everything from family reunions to summer vacations. Packing for them may not be the most fun but if you pack light and simple clothing with a few accent items it can be a breeze.

For me, packing accessories and a great shoe is most important. As I have mentioned before, accessories can make or break an outfit.

My go-to item for this week is a cool and versatile summer hat. Pair one with a nice pair of sunglasses and great pair of shoes and you’re all set for your retreat.

You can’t block the sun in a more stylish way than by wearing a fashionable summer hat. But of course you want your hat or hats to be packable and fitting for the occasion.

Fedoras are always a nice pick, especially if you rotate the different bands around them to alter your look. You can wear these almost anywhere and they look great on virtually any face shape.

Big floppy sun hats are great but you may want to stay away from big scarves around them because that will narrow down where you may want to wear them.

Wide brim straw hats are great, too. They look excellent with summer dresses.

Boonie hats are great for sporty events or any occasion that your hat may be blown or knocked off thanks to their chin straps. You may opt for a vintage type boonie or dress it up with a Columbia-style boonie.

The best colors for your summer hats are blacks, whites and beige because they have versatility, which makes your wardrobe selection less stressful.

These are just a few examples to get your creative summer hat selections flowing. Most important tip to remember: choose a hat that fits the occasion, add a few compliment items and enjoy.
