I’ve decided when I grow up, I’m going to write a book called “Memoirs of a Reporter,” because I believe people will read it based on the simple philosophy of “you can’t make this stuff up.”

The characters will be made up of the offbeat, overly sarcastic reporter (me), the reporter who without fail, always has an anecdote on hand (Kevin), the sassy girl reporter who never knew tumbleweeds existed before moving to New Mexico (Christina), the ultimate nerd reporter (Lillian) and the quirky, history buff editor (David).

You can’t tell me with characters like that, you wouldn’t read this book. One would likely keep reading just to see what the characters will do next.

I think an entire chapter could be devoted to the humor and quirks of David Stevens alone. I don’t doubt David will likely hate this entire idea.

Even if there is no memoir, I can say my four years with local news has been memorable, sometimes in good ways and sometimes in the form of tough lessons. There is no doubt that I have learned a lot of valuable skills.

But oh could I tell you some David Stevens stories. But alas, I value my life far too much.
