Melrose clinic contract amended

Staff report

A contract between the Melrose Health Clinic and Roosevelt General Hospital was amended during a Curry County Commission meeting Tuesday morning at Clovis-Carver Library’s north annex.

Commissioners Wendell Bostwick and Robert Sandoval were absent.

The original contract, dated Dec. 17, 2013, did not take into account vacation time nor continuing medical education hours for Dr. Joyce Roberts, who was designated by RGH to operate the Melrose Health Clinic.

The clinic must close in Roberts’ absence.

The amendment notes that Roberts is granted four weeks of vacation time and one week of Continuing Medical Education annually by RGH. According to the amendment, RGH must give notice to the county, the Senior Citizens Center and Melrose City Hall of the times and dates when the Melrose Clinic will be closed because Roberts is on vacation or participating in CME.

RGH support staff must be available via telephone to respond to questions and concerns from patients during Roberts’ absence.

The clinic may not be closed for two consecutive weeks. The amendment was approved unanimously.

The consent agenda was approved unanimously by the present commissioners.

All other actions items, with the exception of a burn ban, which was not acted upon, passed unanimously. These items were:

• Discussion and request of approval of second amendment to a contract for roof repairs with Reed Roofing. The contract for the repairs has been extended an additional 30 days to allow Reed Roofing to obtain necessary materials; also, to allow for rain days.

A March 18 consent agenda item states that Reed Roofing was contracted to do roof repairs on multiple county buildings;

• Discussion and request for approval of bid award and contract on the Agriculture Building at the Curry County Fairgrounds to Preferred Painters SW Inc., of Clovis, in the amount of $42,487.99 including gross receipts tax;

• Discussion and request for approval of bid and award of contract on roof repairs at the Curry County Fairgrounds;

• Discussion and request approval of amendment to a resolution designating polling places for the 2014 primary and general elections.
