Elk license sale coming

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will begin selling more than 2,000 youth antlerless elk licenses online beginning 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Licenses will be sold online only, and purchase requires an online license system account at wildlife.state.nm.us.

The sale of 540 licenses for hunters using muzzleloaders or bows and nearly 1,500 licenses for any legal weapon is limited to hunters younger than 18 on the hunt’s opening day who have a current Junior Game Hunting or a Junior Game Hunting and Fishing license.

Licenses will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, with the first two weeks limited to New Mexico youth who applied but did not draw a deer, elk, pronghorn, ibex, onyx or bighorn sheep license.
