Blaze strikes York Tire

Fire investigators were still trying to determine what caused a blaze late Monday at York Tire on West Seventh Street, Chief Ron Edwards said Tuesday.

Edwards said the blaze started in a stack of tires outside at the east side of the building.

It was reported about 9 p.m., under control within 15 minutes and extinguished about 15 minutes later, Edwards said.

Edwards said there was smoke damage throughout the building. Flames got inside a smaller portion of the York building by breaching a wall fan, he said.
