Fire official: Tire fire suspicious

Staff report

Fire investigators were investigating the possibility of arson in a fire late Monday that damaged York Tire on West Seventh Street, Chief Ron Edwards said Tuesday.

Capt. Allan Silvers of the department said Tuesday afternoon the official report has not been finalized, but the fire looked suspicious and is being investigated for the possibility of arson.

Edwards said the blaze started in a stack of tires outside at the east side of the building. It was reported about 9 p.m., under control within 15 minutes and extinguished about 15 minutes later, Edwards said.link Staff photo: Tony Bullocks
