Hobbs residents charged with trafficking heroin

Staff report

Two Hobbs residents have been released from the Roosevelt County Detention Center, each on $20,000 bonds, after being arrested on drug trafficking charges, jail officials said Friday.

Heather Lyon, 32, and Norberto Aranda, 61, were arrested Wednesday by Portales police, who said they seized approximately 4.6 ounces of heroin and $6,750 in cash from the pair.

Police said in a press release that members of the Region V Task Force executed a search warrant jointly with the Lea County Drug Task Force based on information of a large amount of heroin being in the pair’s possession at the Classic American Economy Inn in Portales.

Lyon and Aranda were each charged with felony drug trafficking.

Attorneys for Lyon and Aranda were not immediately available for comment.

Agents with the drug task force assessed the street value of the seized heroin at about $26,000.
