Club Notes — May 25

Encanto Garden Club

Encanto Garden Club’s meeting in April consisted of members putting together more than 45 coffee mugs with an original silk flower arrangement in each, which were then given to Clovis Rehab Center and Retirement Ranch for patients at Easter.

Prior to the March meeting members had voted a $25 donation to C.A.R.E.S. This is an organization of employees who may use these gift donations to benefit the zoo as they see fit.

The March Encanto meeting was held March 14. Secretary, Helen Martinez designed and printed the club’s new year books which were handed out. The book this year is dedicated to all past members, women who were committed and dedicated to our mission statement: “Encourage gardening, continue horticulture education and enjoy the beauty of flower arranging.”

Officers were recognized for the coming year and a silent auction served as a fundraiser.

Beta Phi

Six members attended the Beta Phi meeting May 6 at Collene Baldwin’s house. She was the Hostess. Officers were installed. Beverly Miller was presented her 10 year senior service pin. Officers installed: President Laura Loflin, Vice President Sandy Heath, Secretary Recording Collene Baldwin, Treasurer and Chaplain Patsy Lorenz and Corresponding Secretary Beverly Miller.

Altrusa of Clovis

Altrusa International of Clovis held their annual installation of officers 6 p.m. May 19 at Leal’s Mexican Restaurant.

The meeting was called to order by out-going President Sylvia Bean and the Altrusa Opening Prayer was recited.

Present were: Sylvia and Frank Bean, Christina Bean, Judy Cox, Michael Nace, Sherry and Eric Turner, Mary Weigl, Judith Glikas, Kathy Travis, Gaye Cooke, Jim O’Neill, Glenda and Jim Hileman, Margaret and Scott Blazek.

Kathy Travis conducted the installation ceremony and the new board consists of: Outgoing President Sylvia Bean; President Judy Cox; Vice-President Sherry Turner; Secretary Mary Weigl; Treasurer Glenda Hileman; Directors Gaye Cooke and Margaret Blazek.

A program meeting will be held on 6 p.m. June 9. at Muffley’s Back Door.
