Four Floyd High School students shared their hopes for the future and reflected on their high school careers as their senior year comes to an end. Graduation is at 1 p.m. on May 24. Here are profiles of the students selected by Floyd Schools staff:
link Tessa Nall
Name: Tessa Nall
School highlights: Basketball, volleyball, track, FFA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship recipient, honors student.
What’s next after graduation: She will attend Midwestern State University to pursue a degree in radiology.
Favorite high school memory: Playing mud volleyball. “We had a class competition with the underclassmen. Everyone was tackling each other and trying to get each other wet.”
Biggest lesson learned in school: “Just to keep focus on the important things and not get distracted with the extra stuff because it makes life complicated.”
Goals for the future: She wants to be a radiologist assistant.

Name: Taryn Lee
School highlights: Volleyball, basketball, track, FCA, gymnastics, honors student.
What’s next after graduation: She will be getting married in June and plans to move to Amarillo to pursue a degree in nuclear medicine at Amarillo College.
Favorite high school memory: “When we had our class pool party. Just hanging out, it was the start of our junior year.”
Biggest lesson learned in school: “Going hard and working hard pays off in the end. I used to stress myself but it all worked out. I’m going to college, I have a job. Life just kind of fell into place.”
Goals for the future: She wants to study and research cancer. “I want to be successful with my job so I can provide for my family.”

Name: Tabitha Ornelas
School highlights: Basketball, volleyball, FCA, FFA, and cooking class.
What’s next after graduation: She is going to Clovis Community College to become a registered nurse.
Favorite high school memory: Going to Colorado for a volleyball camp her junior year. “We were all really close. We’d hang out every night doing crazy stuff.”
Biggest lesson learned in school: “Just enjoy the little things while they last.”
Goals for the future: She wants to become a registered nurse and have a good-paying job.

Name: Colby Rogers
School highlights: Football, basketball, FFA, FCA, honors student.
What’s next after graduation: He will be attending Eastern New Mexico University in the fall and will work on his grandfather’s ranch.
Favorite high school memory: Senior skip day. “We went to Clovis and ate and went to the movies.”
Biggest lesson learned in school: “Don’t rush things. People get into such a big hurry, you can forget the small things.”
Goals for the future: He hopes to graduate college and be rich.
